A Series of Unfortunate Events finds Its Cast

I have always been a huge fan of the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" franchise and not only due to the fascinating title, but also the concept of the author behind the story actually being part of the universe. While I confess that I consider the film adaptation featuring Jim Carrey to be a personal guilty pleasure, I was very much looking forward to the fact that a Netflix series was announced focusing on a series, which simply functions much more effective as a TV series.

The series will be produced by Daniel Handler and Barry Sonnenfeld. If anyone notices the first name of Daniel Handler, that is the actual author of the franchise, who uses the pen name Lemony Snicket while writing "A Series of Unfortunate Events" already is a good sign that the series might be quite true to the books. In addition, the series has found its Count Olaf, who will be played by everyone's favorite Barney, Neil Patrick Harris.

That isn't all, as they have now announced that Malina Weissman, who some might have seen on the recent Supergirl series, will be playing Violet and Klaus is played by newcomer Louis Hynes. With that two of the three Baudelaire children have been cast and it will be interesting how many books the first season will follow.
